SS Sucks, Obamacare Sucked, Medicare not Fair

SS Sucks

For those of you that aren’t familiar, your Social Security benefits are based on the average of the highest 35 years of you wages adjusted for inflation. The, in 2021, you will get 90% of the first $11,952, 32% of the next $60,072, ONLY 15% of the next $70,776 and NOTHING for anything over $142,800.

Turns out you will be 63% WORSE off getting social security than you would be if you would have been able to take all of your Social Security taxes and just invested it in abroad stock market index.

Obamacare Sucked

Obamacare increased my Health insurance premiums from around $6000 a year to over $12,000 per year and it significantly increased my deductible and out-of-pocket maximums. Why? Just as predicted, the design of Obamacare distorted the risk pool of private insurance resulting in higher premiums and costs.  So, my health insurance premiums clearly did not go down, and they tried their best to make it so I couldn’t keep my doctor.

Medicare is Unfair

Unfortunately (maybe luckily) I will be turning 65 next year and eligible for Medicare. As I start looking at my alternatives I was pleasantly surprised to see that my insurance premiums will now drop to a minimal amount of around $2000 per year and that will cover all my medical expenses (except for prescription co-pays.) No more out-of-pocket. No more deductible.

Obviously, selfishly, I’ll enjoy the savings. But given my financial status and the financial status of our country, it seems like our country is pretty screwed up giving me such low price healthcare.

Crack Sentencing Racist? No Mistake? Yes

Yes. The Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 disproportionately affected blacks.

No. The Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 was not racist.

In the 1980’s there was a dramatic increase in violence and crime related to crack cocaine, primarily in black communities. In response to this, and in an attempt to reduce crime and violence in these communities, the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 was design and passed with the full backing and support of black leaders and the Black Congressional Caucus. It was supported by Biden, a significant portion of Democrats and a majority of Republicans.

  • Congressional Black Caucus co-sponsored and voted for it
  • Harlem’s U.S. Representative Charles Rangel help draft the bill
  • The United Black Church Appeal, a coalition of African American religious and civic leaders, organized vigils and rallies across New York City to publicize the crack problem and pressure public officials to act
  • The Reverend Wendell Foster, an African American city councilman and the president of the United Black Church Appeal, declared, “We are engaged in a new form of genocide.” He added, “As devastating as drugs may be in the white community, they are 10 times worse in the black community.”
  • Charles Hughes, African American president of Local 372, District Council 37 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, “…an end to the [heyday] that CRACK dealers have enjoyed until now. Penalties must replace profits for those who are trafficking in drugs and the [high-level] drug [kingpins] must be apprehended and brought to justice as well as [street-level] pushers”
  • Anti-drug campaigns emerged in black communities across the United States

More Woke Nightmares

What about this insurrection?

Based on complete lies and disinformation fabricated by Clinton and the Russians propagated by the main stream media

For 4 years:
  • Claims that Trump was not legitimate
  • Corruption of the DOJ and FBI
  • Gross interference and disruptions of the Trump administration
  • Diversion of resources from the actual “insurrectionists”

Biden's Botched Border Oct 21

Biden’s policies are a mess AND put many innocents at risk and allow Mexican cartels to get rich.

I support immigration. A lot of immigration. But legal immigration, with a mix of merit based  (engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, doctors, mathematicians, etc.) and opportunity-based (poor people who want to work hard, adopt American values, and get ahead).

(Note-The above numbers are the apprehensions. We do not know how many people get through without being apprehended)

China loves Joe’s Woke”ness”

With China’s increasing size and importance of their economy and military and their interest in expanding in the Pacific and their global influence and retaking Taiwan, can anyone explain why the US is expanding their teaching students about gender fluidity and the false narratives of CRT and shrinking their teaching students about math and science?

Weather’s not a threat to banks

Weather’s not a threat to banks

Biden needs to stop lying. Climate change is not a threat to our financial system.

The New York Federal Reserve: “How bad are weather disasters for banks?”

The answer: “Not very!”

Despite Biden’s claims to the contrary it turns out that because the actual size of financial system dwarfs the cost of weather disasters, adaptation to weather reduces the costs of weather disasters, banks understand risks of weather disasters and adjust their rates and loan portfolios to reflect the risk and banks make money on loans that actually increase after weather disasters.

So. Yes climate change exists. No, it’s not a threat to our financial system.  And, no it’s not an existential threat.

Nightmare of Biden’s Woke”ness”

Recent Woke”ness”

Instead of talking about poor health among low-income people that physicians should blame “landowners and large corporations” for “increasingly centralizing political and financial power wielded by a few”

AMA’s Advancing Health Equity: A Guide to Language, Narrative and Concepts

Previous Woke”ness”

“Mothers” have been replaced with “birthing people” in Biden’s proposed budget

The White House contact website now includes the gender-neutral prefix and pronoun options “Mx” and “they/them.”

The Biden administration is now allowing applicants to choose their gender when applying for a passport without providing medical certification, and will soon be adding a third gender option.

Biden uses the woke term “Latinx” – which only one in four Latino adults have heard of and only three percent use.

The Biden administration has forced immigration agencies to change how they talk about illegal immigrants, with “illegal aliens” now “undocumented noncitizens” and “assimilation” now “integration.”

Note- I really don’t care about who wants to sleep with whom or who wants to look like whom but I don’t like the departure from science: if you have a functioning SRY gene you have testes and are a male (if you have other rare abnormalities that interfere with the downstream pathways of SRY gene you make look female but you will still have testes and no ovaries).

This will help blacks how?

Arizona State University professor says traditional grading system is 'racist' and demands an end to 'white supremacy' by grading papers based on EFFORT instead of quality, grammar and style.  Some students have 'privilege' because they 'embody those habits of white language already'

Asao Inoue, a professor of rhetoric and composition: “Labor-based grading structurally changes everyone's relationship to dominant standards of English that come from elite, masculine, heteronormative, ableist, white racial groups of speakers.”

Did the US screw its school children?

Hmmmm.  Maybe we did screw up.

The US had significant lockdowns and school closings and still has significant masking requirements.

Sweden encouraged social distancing BUT did not have significant lockdowns or masking requirements, they kept schools open and did not require students to mask.

To date Sweden has 35% less Covid deaths per million than the US.

While it is difficult and only begun to be quantified, it is clear that the US school lockdowns had a significant negative impact on children's education, social and emotional health. It is clear that these harmful affects negatively and disproportionately affected students of color

Also in a recent study from Sweden, there were no Covid deaths of children during the first 4 months of the Covid outbreak and the incidence of Covid amoung it's teachers was significantly less than the general public.

Why doesn’t this life matter

What systemic environment today results in this senseless killing?

What systemic environment today results in the leading cause for young black male death?

Why do the Democrats continue to propagate the false narrative that systemic racism is the cause of all disparities?

Lena Nicole Marshall, a Georgia sheriff’s deputy, died in the hospital Monday afternoon, just three days after a domestic call in Jackson County turned into a violent shootout.

Media misleads about CRT

In my view CRT’s foundational claim is that the major disparities between blacks and whites today is due to systemic racism today. My problem with this is that it takes away agency, and individual responsibility and misses the real issues causing disparities.

Further it’s beliefs that there is no objectivity, rationality or value in typical Judeo-Christian values like punctuality, hard work will hurt blacks and America

Finall the claim that opponents of teaching CRT are opposing the teaching of history is patently false. Example is the Texas law where the law actually says no students can be taught that the student should feel guilty about subject matter (i.e. racism) because of their race or sex.  It doesn’t prevent students being taught subject matter that could make the student feel guilty

Recent analysis highlights how badly the media is misleading the public about what is actually in CRT.

• Coverage largely ignored bedrock assumptions of CRT, including its explicit rejection of rationality and objectivity. This was mentioned in fewer than 10 percent of articles.

• News accounts also rarely mentioned concerns about CRT-aligned practices, such as segre- gated, race-based affinity spaces or the promotion of “anti-racist” racial stereotypes.

Where’s Biden, BLM and LeBron 11/9/21

Where’s the outrage? Where’s BLM? Where’s Lebron?

Another week and more lives lost. Until the Democrats stop propagating the false narrative nothing will change.

Black lives matter - I support the words but cannot support the organization because it propagates the false narrative that systemic racism is the primary cause of the disparities(incarceration, teen mothers, fatherless households, income, wealth, etc.) between blacks and whites.

Racism exists, it’s bad, and we should continue to work to reduce it. Excess police force is bad and we should continue to work to reduce it.

BLM organization’s positions and policies do not address the problems (murders, fatherless households, teen pregnancy) and do not address the key root causes (it’s not excessive police force or systemic racism.)

Biden's Hidden Methane Tax

Biden continues to claim that he will not tax anyone making less than $400,000.  This has been a patently false claim for many of his proposals, policies and plans, not the least of which is his increase in corporate taxes which WILL be passed on to consumers through higher prices, employees through lower wages, investors (i.e. pension funds) through lower returns and everyone through a smaller economy.

Now his methane proposals will be more hidden taxes.

The sources of methane emissions in the US and the effect of Biden's proposals are shown in the chart.

Farm animal operations is the largest at 36% and his proposal has no specific target or plan to reduce these.

The second largest is related to oil and gas production which is 30%. His limits on pipelines, new natural gas leases, and fracking have already started to reduce the amount of oil and gas produced, increasing the price of fuels and, with his proposal to cut this by 75%, there will only be a greater increase in the cost and price of oil and gas, taxing all Americans.

Landfill emissions are the third largest source at 17%.  His proposal is to capture 70% of these emissions, which will require significant capital investment and operating costs, increasing the costs of waste disposal affecting all Americans.

His methane proposals do not have any specific plans or targets for the remaining sources of other and coal, 10% and 7% respectively.

I am not claiming that there is not a future benefit in reducing methane emissions, though there is no clear evidence that the benefits of Biden's proposals are greater than the cost of his proposals.

I am saying that lying to the American Public about how his proposals are an indirect tax, and a significant one, on all Americans is a dishonest and unfair way to gain approval and support for his policies and goals.

Anti-CRT law in Texas OK

There is nothing wrong with the Texas anti-CRT law

People are starting to falsely claim that the new anti-CRT Texas law prevents teachers, etc., from teaching about slavery and other negative aspects about our history. This is not true. Nothing about the law, see the operative text below, prevents teaching about slavery or similar things. It only prevents teaching that an individual should feel negatively about such topics based on their sex or race. Not that they can’t feel guilty,  only that they should not be taught that they should feel guilty based on their race or sex

The law:”No teacher, administrator, or other employee in any state agency, school district, campus, open enrollment charter school, or school administration  shall require, or make part of a course that any individual SHOULD FEEL discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race or sex.”

It’s not an existential threat

Existential threat? No!

Yes it’s a Problem, BUT not end-of-world

Instead of being 450% as rich as we are now, unabated climate means we'll 'only' be 436% as rich.

No increase in hurricanes.

No increase in wildfires.

Arguments for devastation typically ignore adaptation, which will reduce vulnerability dramatically.

Damage from flooding is decreasing.

Climate policies also have costs that often vastly outweigh their climate benefits. The Paris Agreement, if fully implemented, will cost $819–$1,890 billion per year in 2030, yet will reduce emissions by just 1% of what is needed to limit average global temperature rise to 1.5°C. Each dollar spent on Paris will likely produce climate benefits worth 11¢.
