The NIH has tested blood samples for COVID antibodies from 1 443 519 blood donations from July 2020 through May 2021 from a area representing 74% of the US population.
When the results are adjusted to fit the actual demographics of United States they estimate that as of May 2021, 83% of the US population have either been vaccinated and/or had COVID.
With the fact that the antibody tests give false negatives for some infections and more recent blood samples included it is estimated that over 92% of the population has antibodies.
While this doesn’t mean that people will not be reinfected by new variants of the virus overtime, it is highly likely that re-infections will have much much lower morbidity and mortality and that this will become more more like a flu or even hopefully a cold a virus
